On Saturday we trailered the ATVs to Superior National Forest, near Schroeder. Last weekend's colors were nice and everything, but this weekend was much better. In fact, we're both in agreement that these were the best fall colors that we can remember.

9 hour round-trip drive + 8 hour trail ride = Long Day

A bittersweet cruise. Tomorrow the pontoon comes ashore 'til next Spring

I'm a sucker for videos like these. Neither one is very new, but they're too good not to share with those of you who may not have seen them yet.

Yesterday Karen & I drove up to Duluth to meet with one of my good friends, Gordon Mahnke, and check out the fall colors along Lake Superior's North Shore. The weather was nice, without a cloud in the sky. Unfortunately, it appeared that everyone in MN had the same idea as we did, considering that every scenic wayside was packed full of cars. Anyone familiar with Gooseberry Falls knows that it's always pretty busy, but I have never seen it so packed with people that EVERY parking lot was full and cars were parked alongside the road. But even so, we managed to find a spot and hiked along the south side of the Gooseberry River from the lake to the upper falls and enjoyed the scenery.
