North Shore Fall Colors - Part 1

Yesterday Karen & I drove up to Duluth to meet with one of my good friends, Gordon Mahnke, and check out the fall colors along Lake Superior's North Shore. The weather was nice, without a cloud in the sky. Unfortunately, it appeared that everyone in MN had the same idea as we did, considering that every scenic wayside was packed full of cars. Anyone familiar with Gooseberry Falls knows that it's always pretty busy, but I have never seen it so packed with people that EVERY parking lot was full and cars were parked alongside the road. But even so, we managed to find a spot and hiked along the south side of the Gooseberry River from the lake to the upper falls and enjoyed the scenery. Below is a sampling of the photos we took along the way. (Click photos to enlarge)
